Machina updated

Added a linux page to the machina section that outlines what I did to get slackware 8.1 working on the armada E500's that we got freshman year (in 2000). I'll update it as I install more software if it gives me problems or I think that I might want to remember to install said software again in the future. Its really all just a temp holder for my knowledge since I doubt that I would remember this crap I if i didn't run linux again for few months. This wasn't witty at all, I should be ashamed.

As far as my Linux woes go for today, tonights is a tale of triumph and uncertainty. I finaly got the makefile for XAnim to work by reading tons of readme's and fixing a bug in the newest version of X11 contained in one of its config files. Although its in one of the many readme documentations for XAnim, i think I'll write a quick script to fix the bug in X11 since it might create problems for future programs I might want to compile. Theres also the sound disabled or not enabled by default thing.. I'll write a script to take care of all of the problems I have with the default settings and then I guess reformatting wont really do much at all..

ARGH. Linux is such a headache. I spent half of the morning trying to get mplayer working, and when that looked like it was going to go nowhere (after alsa or asla or whatever failed miserably), i decided to give XAnim a shot. Failure! It wont even compile. At all... It compiles fine on like, everyone's machine but mine. I think when I install Linux it always leaves out a few important header and lib files so that I can never do anything that is supposed to be "easy".. one help file online said "Type "make xanim" and Voila! You're done!"... Thats right, I'm done trying to watch anything in linux. After the Divx player didn't play back movies properly (at least it compiled, installed, opened, and opened files!), the rest of these players never even get opened, one of them never installed. Its very irritating.. how the hell can i be missing Shell.h? And what about libasound.so.1.. its right fucking there.

Copa Mundial!

When it's all said and done, maybe I wont remember gloating over a french person I vaguely know in the cups opening, although I probably will.. and maybe the thought that Portugal lost to USA 3 - 2 in the most humiliating performance, at least thus far in the cup, wont ever cross my mind again after they bury Korea in 3 days; although events could very well take a different path.. But what I definitely will remember is that it's not the great winners that have made this cup special, its the great losers. And in multiple ways.

Paul Demarco (of officeXP pirracy and goddamnit.html fame) and I were sitting on the couch tonight watching Jay Leno and his tonight show antics when I decided that I'd plug the cable in. The reception was a lot better and I mean, for a 32 inch TV; we kinda like the reception good. So we were chillin and such, and when a commercial came, I challenged my TV to see how many channels I could get. Well; it has apparently issued me my own challenge: "Get me working." Thats correct ladies and gentlemen, the damn thing has stopped working.
